Golfer’s Grog – German Kölsch

beer-label-golfers-grog-3inchA German Kolsch is hard to find in the U.S. so I decided to brew my own. I had never actually had one before this, so I was only slightly aware of what it would taste like after reading the descriptions online. It turns out this is one of my favorite beers now. I followed the recipe from Midwest Supplies for their Cologne Kolsch and fermented it a little warmer than I should have. This threw off some velvety floral notes in the body, and produced a wonderful citrus aroma. It’s not really what the style is supposed to taste like, but like they say, “If this is wrong, I don’t wanna be right!”

The name refers to something that is light, refreshing, and easy to drink while you’re golfing on a warm day. I made a mistake on the label for the alcohol content. It’s actually only 4.9% ABV.
